Double Heelix Socks

Double Heelix Socks

You've seen socks that start at the cuff and socks that start at the toe, but have you ever heard of socks that start at the heel?! These clever Double Heelix Socks start with interlocking spirals to create a unique heel before continuing to work the foot and then the leg, or the leg and then the foot. Make them match or make them fraternal twins, you decide! Pick out two contrasting colors of fingering weight yarn and you'll be able to make two pairs.

Materials required:

  • 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn with at least 20% nylon in the fiber content, contrasting colors
  • US #1.5 32" or 40" needle, or set of Addi FlexiFlips
  • Double Heelix -free pattern (please print and bring with you to class)
  • Scrap fingering weight yarn in high contrast color to sock colors
  • 2.5mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle

You may bring any needles you already have, but we ask that you purchase yarn at the Cottage for your class.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Requirements: It is helpful if you have made a sock or two, but not required. Most of the class will be focused on making the heel and transitioning from the heel to the leg and foot.
