Workshop Project: Summer Purse

GracesLinenPurse015732This lovely bag is knitted in a unique “yarn” which we have never carried before and is new for Spring. Grace is known for her creativeness when it comes to bags and purses and she’s been having tons of fun “playing” with this yarn.

The yarn very much resembles the straw bags we’ve all purchased and love. This photo is not the “exact” purse we’ll be knitting but will give you an idea of one of the patterns possible for this particular yarn. Grace is in the process of finaliziing ours and will provide “the real thing” soon. We all need surprises, right?

This is one of the projects featured in our Spring Workshop at Pine Lake Country Club in April.

crocheted houndstooth purseWhether you’re an experienced crafter or a wannabe, you’ve got plenty of company this gift-giving season.

According to a study by the National Retail Federation, 16.7% of U.S. consumers plan to make more gifts this year. This number includes people who have not made gifts in the past. Other, less formal, studies show that, among crafters, roughly 60% will make gifts this year.

We’re doing our part here at the Cottage to supply you with the finest materials and a variety of patterns to suit any skill level. And if your brain is too fried to put together a project, just pick out one of our kits and start to work.

Crafting can also be a family tradition to continue or to start in 2010. If you want to bring a family member in to learn to knit or crochet, just give us a call.

Featured here is a hounds tooth crocheted bag made by our very own Kathy Cruse. Several other bags here in the shop will inspire you to new creative heights!
