Kathy’s sample was knit in a beautiful solid chunky yarn and embellished around the neck edge with a totally different yarn.

We have fallen in love with this pattern – especially when it’s knitted in our beautiful Araucania Azapa yarn. The fiber contents of this yarn is 30% alpaca, 45% merino, 15% silk and 10% donegal. As with all Noro yarns, Furisode is brilliant with color and everything knitted, crocheted, and in this case – using the Broomstick Lace Technique – is really pretty. Made from silk, cotton and wool, Furisode is very soft to the touch.
These easy to knit mitts (Susie’s Reading Mitts free pattern)are gorgeous knitted in our Cascade Eco Duo. The softness of the undyed merino wool and the luxury of baby alpaca make mittens, scarves, sweaters – just about anything, a pleasure to knit and an an absolute joy to wear. We’ve reordered this yarn NUMEROUS times.
Bulky is in! If you want to knit a hat in about an hour, this is the yarn for you. The colors are magnificent. Madison knit this hat in a very short time!! But hats aren’t the only things this yarn is great for – come see Hope’s beautiful wrap in the shop.
“Sweet November” is the project on all of our needles here at the Cottage. We have fallen in love with this shawl/scarf that was inspired from the movie “Sweet November” (staring Charlize Theron) and are having a blast feverishly knitting them in all colors. You will want to knit this and have several on hand for the approaching cooler weather. It is a perfect wrap for our moderate climate here in the south and a very easy knit. A great project for the beginner to the adventurous and will make a great gift for that “hard to shop for person” on your list.
