After selling my business of 18 years (a temp agency) and ending a career of high stress, long hours and sleepless nights, I vowed that my next career would be one in which I was passionate about and was fun. I’ve found that passion!
I never really had the pleasure of enjoying hobbies while in the corporate world, so when I learned to knit in 2002, it literally consumed me. That’s why I decided to share my passion by opening Cottage Yarn in May, 2005. I honestly believe the success of this business is based on the relationships we build with our customers, and we treasure the friendships already established.

Grace Thayer, Lifelong Knitter

Grace Thayer, Lifelong Knitter
Grace Thayer, Knitting, Crochet and Sales
At a young age, Grace learned to knit and sew. Her love of color and fiber texture led her to pursue a degree in Interior Design, and she practiced that career for several years. Her love of knitting, however, has by far overshadowed the interior designing aspects of her life.
Grace has a tremendous gift for color coordination and integrating that knowledge with knitting patterns…many of which she designs. Grace is responsible for designing many of the projects taught at Cottage Yarn.

Kathy Cruse, Knitting, Crochet and Sales
Kathy has been proficient in crafts such as knitting, crocheting, tatting and sewing since childhood. Although she follows in the crafty footsteps of her mother and grandmother, her mentor was a neighbor who encouraged her to major in textiles and clothing at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Her degree allowed her to pursue her dream of opening her own business of custom designing window treatments. She has a special talent in color coordination and pattern design which enables her to be extremely helpful to customers looking for unique ideas for their knitting and crocheting projects.
